ISO 45001:2018 Internal Auditor Training

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, and clause 9.2 obliges every organisation operating one to audit itself at planned intervals. This course trains the people who carry that obligation — HSE officers, EHS and quality managers, engineers and supervisors — to audit their own organisation's OH&S management system and produce findings that stand up to challenge from management and from a certification body alike.

The programme works through the standard clause by clause as audit criteria: context and interested parties; leadership, policy and the distinctive requirements of clause 5.4 on consultation and participation of workers; hazard identification, risk assessment, legal and other requirements and objectives under clause 6; competence, awareness, communication and documented information under clause 7; operational planning and control including the hierarchy of controls (8.1.2), management of change (8.1.3), procurement, contractors and outsourcing (8.1.4) and emergency preparedness (8.2); and performance evaluation, incident investigation and corrective action under clauses 9 and 10.

It then turns to method, following ISO 19011:2018: designing a risk-based audit programme, preparing checklists that test process rather than paperwork, sampling and interviewing on a live site, grading findings, writing nonconformity statements that link requirement to evidence, chairing a closing meeting and verifying that corrective action actually worked. Examples are drawn from construction, fabrication and manufacturing operations in the UAE and wider GCC, including multi-employer sites and heat-stress controls.

Assessment is by a 30-question online exam with a 70% pass mark. Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 8 hours of self-paced study.
