ISO 45001:2018 Awareness Training

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems. It replaced OHSAS 18001, whose certificates ceased to be valid in September 2021. This course works through the standard clause by clause at awareness depth and answers, at every step, the question most people in a certified organisation need answered: what does this mean for me and my team? ISO 45002:2023 is used as the reference for how the requirements work in practice.

It covers why the standard exists and how it differs from OHSAS 18001; the Harmonized Structure and Plan-Do-Check-Act; context and interested parties; leadership and the consultation and participation requirements of clause 5.4, treated in full because they are what makes ISO 45001 different; hazard identification and the hierarchy of controls in its correct order; legal requirements, objectives, competence, awareness and communication; operational control, management of change, contractors and emergencies; then monitoring, audit and management review from the auditee's side, incident investigation and corrective action.

It is written for line managers, supervisors, HSE committee members, engineers, procurement staff and workers who need the level below internal auditor. Examples come from GCC construction, oil and gas, facilities management, logistics and hospitality, including heat stress, permit-to-work and contractor control.

Afterwards you will be able to find the documented information that applies to your job, contribute to hazard identification and incident investigation, and answer an auditor with evidence rather than guesswork. Assessment is a 30-question online exam, 70% pass mark, leading to a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 13 hours of self-paced study.
