ISO 45001:2018 Internal Auditor Training

ISO 45001:2018 is the international standard for occupational health and safety management systems, and clause 9.2 obliges every organisation operating one to audit itself at planned intervals. This course qualifies you to do that work properly: to build a risk-based audit programme, prepare a clause-based checklist, interview non-managerial workers as well as managers, gather and corroborate evidence on site, grade and write findings, and verify that corrective action actually removed the cause.

The programme works through clauses 4 to 10 from an auditor's viewpoint, spending real time where audits most often go wrong. Clause 5.4, consultation and participation of workers, gets a full lesson on testing whether non-managerial workers were genuinely involved and what evidence proves it. Hazard identification and assessment of risks (6.1.2), legal and other requirements (6.1.3), the hierarchy of controls in its required order (8.1.2), management of change (8.1.3), procurement, contractors and outsourcing (8.1.4), emergency preparedness (8.2), evaluation of compliance (9.1.2) and incident and corrective action (10.2) each receive the same treatment: what the clause requires, what the evidence looks like, how to sample it, and how the resulting nonconformity is written up.

It is built for HSE officers, supervisors, safety representatives, OH&S managers and newly appointed internal auditors. The audit methodology follows ISO 19011:2018 — programme, plan, checklist, opening meeting, interviewing, evidence, findings, closing meeting, report, corrective action and verification — and findings are written using the problem–location–requirement discipline, correctly graded as major, minor or opportunity for improvement.

The course concludes with a 30-question online exam (70% pass mark). Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 15.5 hours of self-paced study.
