Overview

About this course

ISO 9001:2015 requires at clause 9.2 that an organisation conducts internal audits at planned intervals to determine whether its quality management system conforms both to the organisation's own requirements and to the requirements of the standard, and whether it is effectively implemented and maintained. That clause is the reason internal auditors exist — and it is also the reason so many audit programmes disappoint, because they are run as document-checking exercises rather than as evidence-based enquiries into how work actually gets done.

This course qualifies quality officers, engineers, supervisors and managers to plan, conduct, report and follow up internal audits against ISO 9001:2015 using the methodology of ISO 19011:2018. The first half works through clauses 4 to 10 from an auditor's viewpoint — what each requirement means, what evidence demonstrates conformity, and which nonconformities recur — organised around the process approach, risk-based thinking and PDCA as working tools rather than slogans. The second half follows the audit cycle in the order you meet it: programme design, audit initiation and planning, checklists and sampling, the opening meeting, interviewing and observation, evidence evaluation, writing nonconformities using problem–location–requirement, grading major findings, minor findings and opportunities for improvement, the closing meeting, the report, corrective action and verification of effectiveness.

Throughout, clause numbers are cited exactly, findings are written the way a certification body expects to read them, and every requirement is paired with the evidence an auditor would ask to see. Worked examples cover manufacturing, engineering services and administrative processes.

Assessment is by an online 30-question final exam with a 70% pass mark. Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 15 hours of self-paced study.
