Overview
About this course
ISO 55001:2024 is the current edition of the asset management system requirements standard, replacing ISO 55001:2014 and aligned with ISO's Harmonized Structure. Across GCC utilities, transport, oil and gas, district cooling and government infrastructure, certification is now a board and regulator expectation — which demands auditors who can test a management system rather than inspect assets.
The course teaches the fundamentals and vocabulary of ISO 55000:2024, uses ISO 55002 for implementation context, then works through ISO 55001:2024 clause by clause: context and the line of sight from organisational objectives through the SAMP to asset management plans; policy, leadership and the asset owner; portfolio risk, life-cycle planning and the cost–risk–performance balance; asset information and data quality; management of change and outsourcing; performance evaluation, internal audit and management review; nonconformity, predictive action and improvement. Every clause is taught through the evidence auditors actually request — criticality assessments, condition data, maintenance strategy justifications, deferred-maintenance decisions and the ledger-to-register reconciliation.
The final module covers lead auditor practice to ISO 19011:2018 and ISO/IEC 17021-1:2015: team competence including the asset management technical expert, Stage 1 and Stage 2, sampling across asset classes and sites, interviewing from board to technician, grading findings, the report, the certification recommendation and surveillance.
Assessment is a 30-question online examination with a 70% pass mark. Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 16 hours of self-paced study.
