ISO 21001 Audit Checklist for Educational Organizations

How to use it

Audit by following the learner. Pick a programme and a few learners, and trace their journey: the information they were given before they enrolled, the admission decision, the timetable and the educators assigned, the learning resources, the assessments and how the grades were reached, the support they received, the certificate issued, and what happened to any complaint or appeal. Sit in on a session if you can, and talk to learners and educators as well as managers. For every No, write a nonconformity that states the requirement, the evidence and why it does not conform, then agree a root cause, an owner and a date.

This checklist covers the standard only. Licensing, curriculum, teacher qualification, safeguarding and data protection rules differ from one jurisdiction to another, so check the legal requirements that apply to you and add them to your audit criteria. Standards are revised from time to time — check which edition of ISO 21001 applies to you.
