GHG Inventory Template (ISO 14064-1)

A greenhouse gas inventory is only as good as its boundaries, its data and its paper trail. This kit follows the structure of ISO 14064-1:2018 for organisation-level inventories: organisational and reporting boundaries, direct and indirect emissions in six categories, quantification from activity data and emission factors, a base year, inventory quality management, uncertainty and the GHG report. It shows what is missing before you calculate, and gives you the tables to build the inventory in.

How to use it

Start with the checklist: mark each line In place, Partial or Missing. Then work through the templates in order. Fix the organisational boundary first, list every emission source by category, and decide which indirect sources are significant and why. Collect activity data with a source document for every figure, and record where each emission factor came from. Set the base year, write down your recalculation rule, and note the data quality of each source so you know where to improve next year.

The kit deliberately quotes no emission factors and no global warming potential values: they differ by country, fuel, year and source, and they are updated regularly. Take them from a recognised, current source and record which one you used. The kit is a working aid — it does not replace the standard, and using it does not make an inventory verified.
