About this course
ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 45001:2018 share the same ten-clause harmonized structure, which is why most organisations run them as one system and audit them in one programme. They are not the same standard. ISO 14001 asks about environmental aspects, a life cycle perspective and compliance obligations; ISO 45001 asks about hazards, consultation of workers and the hierarchy of controls. An auditor who blurs the two writes findings that cannot be defended. This course teaches both standards together, clause by clause, naming both clause numbers throughout and stopping wherever they diverge.
The programme follows the order an auditor meets the system: context and scope at clause 4; leadership, policy and ISO 45001's clause 5.4; the two very different 6.1.2 clauses; compliance obligations against legal and other requirements at 6.1.3; support and operational control, including the life cycle perspective in ISO 14001 8.1 and the hierarchy of controls in ISO 45001 8.1.2; emergency preparedness at 8.2 in both; and clauses 9 and 10, including evaluation of compliance at 9.1.2 and incident investigation at ISO 45001 10.2. Three closing modules cover audit programme management and conduct to ISO 19011:2018, combined HSE audit trails, nonconformity writing using problem–location–requirement, and corrective action follow-up.
It is written for HSE officers, EMS and OH&S coordinators, engineers, managers and consultants who must audit both standards in a single internal programme and report findings that survive challenge from line management and from a certification body.
Assessment is a 30-question online exam with a 70% pass mark. Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 14.5 hours of self-paced study.
