ISO 14001:2026 Awareness Training — New Changes and Implementation Roadmap

ISO 14001:2026 was published on 15 April 2026 and replaces ISO 14001:2015. Every certified organisation must transition before 14 April 2029, and certification bodies are expected to stop issuing new 2015 certificates around eighteen months after publication. This course is for people who already run a 2015 system and must now brief a board, rework the system and pass a transition audit. It does not re-teach ISO 14001:2015.

The course follows the revision in the order you meet it in your own system: the transition timeline and certification-body arrangements; the Harmonized Structure and terminology updates; the strengthened context, scope and leadership requirements covering climate change, resource availability, pollution and biodiversity; the restructured planning clauses and the new structured change-management requirement; operational control across the value chain; and the reorganised performance-evaluation and improvement requirements. Each change is treated the same way — what changed, why, what evidence an auditor will ask for, and what to do about it.

The final two modules are the roadmap: briefing top management, running a gap analysis against the supplied template, refreshing the aspects and compliance obligations registers, updating documented information without document bloat, training and communication, the internal audit and management review against the 2026 edition, and preparing the transition audit evidence pack. Two schedules are worked through — a twelve-month plan and a compressed six-month plan.

Assessment is a 30-question online exam with a 70% pass mark. Successful learners receive a verifiable SKEDMIA certificate. Approximately 13 hours of self-paced study.
