HSE Site Induction Checklist

A working kit for the first hours of someone's time on your site. Someone who is new to a site does not yet know its hazards, its rules or the people to ask. A good induction tells them what they need to know and shows them what they need to see, before they start work — and leaves a record that it happened.

What is inside

Who it is for

HSE officers, site and project managers, supervisors, HR teams and contractor coordinators who deliver inductions or need to show that they were delivered.

How to use it

Edit the checklist once so that it describes your own site: your alarm, your assembly point, your permit system, your PPE zones. Then use one copy per person. Talk through the items, walk the escape route and the work area together, and check understanding with a few questions rather than a signature alone. Mark anything that could not be finished as Follow up, give it a date, and do not let the person work unsupervised in that area until it is closed. Keep the signed record, and reinforce the induction with regular toolbox talks.

ISO 45001:2018 expects workers to be made aware of the hazards, risks and controls that are relevant to them, and expects the organisation to control the risks that arise from the work of its contractors.
