About this course
SUMMARY
An essential training session for those who are in any way responsible for medical gases (piped or cylinders) in healthcare premises. The session is particularly useful for nursing staff, medical staff and designated porters. If desirable, greater emphasis can be directed during a session at a particular aspect e.g. good manifold room practice etc. This training is to impart the essential underpinning knowledge and to develop skills prescribed for those with a need to manage or handle medical gases and/or medical gas cylinders in healthcare premises.
COURSE CONTENT:
• Identifying medical gases from cylinder labelling
• The hazards of medical gases
• Safety systems used on medical gas cylinders
• Safe handling, storage and transport of medical gas cylinders
• Dealing with faulty cylinders
• Connection and disconnection of medical gas cylinders to/from medical equipment
• Correct response to medical gas alarms
• Correct response to a medical gas emergency
